GEMBA 7 Graduates and Launches Philanthropic Effort

In July, Georgetown University welcomed the 7th cohort of the Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) program into the alumni family. The 35 GEMBA students graduated in front of an audience of 200 guests, as well as senior leaders and faculty from both Georgetown's McDonough School of Business and ESADE Business School in Spain. Daniel Villanueva, a GEMBA 7 graduate and recently appointed member of the Georgetown Board of Trustees, provided remarks on behalf of the cohort. Director General of ESADE Eugenia Bieto also addressed the graduates and their guests.

The night before graduation, more than 120 people attended a closing dinner at the picturesque Hay Adams hotel. Parents and friends of students gave heartfelt speeches in honor of the graduates who completed six rigorous modules in six different countries. At the dinner, the group also collected donations for the philanthropic initiative the cohort founded, GEMBA Legacy, through which they are raising funds for underprivileged children in Colombia. As the GEMBA Legacy website states, "Education has been life changing for all of us. Now we promote education for the most vulnerable population as a key tool for social transformation."

Congratulations to all the GEMBA 7 graduates! Hoya Saxa!
